Our parish text-message program

Saint George Cathedral offers optional text-message updates about services, feast days, parish events, and important Cathedral announcements. This policy explains how information is used in that program.

Information we collect

When you subscribe, we collect the name and mobile number you provide. The messaging service also processes subscription and consent records, delivery information, and replies such as YES, STOP, or HELP to operate the program and manage your preferences.

How we use your information

We use this information to confirm your subscription, send the parish updates you requested, respond to program-related questions, and record and honor your opt-in and opt-out choices. Message frequency varies with parish activities.

How information is shared

We do not sell or rent your personal information. Mobile numbers, SMS opt-in records, and consent information are not shared with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes. We may share the information needed to operate the parish messaging program with service providers, including Textmagic and telecommunications carriers, solely to process subscriptions, deliver messages, and honor your choices. We may also disclose information when required by law.

Your choices

Joining the text-message list is voluntary and is not a condition of parish membership, participation, or making a donation. Follow the confirmation instructions sent to your phone to complete signup. Reply STOP to cancel or HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply. You may also contact the Cathedral office for assistance.

Retention and protection

We retain information for as long as needed to provide the program, honor your communication preferences, and meet applicable recordkeeping obligations. After you opt out, we may retain the records needed to respect that request and document consent. We use reasonable safeguards, but SMS is not a confidential channel; please do not send sensitive personal, financial, or pastoral information by text.
